I'm not a huge fan of Skype. People usually get caught up looking at themselves in the tiny box in the corner of the screen, making them feel self-conscious, and they can't act normal. Or they do a split-screen and give you split-attention. Or they feel like they are on camera, and we all know you can't act normal on camera - refer to any Christmas video from your childhood. Unfortunately, Nate and I have only technology to bring us together, and Skype is the best option.
On the other hand... WE HAVE TECHNOLOGY TO BRING US TOGETHER! Here we are - as together as we can get when 200 miles apart.
It's really pretty miraculous. I'm not so ungrateful that I can't realize this. So even though I can't take my eyes off of myself while Skyping (do I look ok?), it's nice to know that if I do decide to look up, I can see Nate in real time.
